The other day, I shot my first YouTube video, a song for Russell Brunson, who I'm "stalking" on my Guru-Stalker.com website (defunct). It's not the first video I've ever made -- just the first for YouTube.

I learned a little something about video in the process. The sound for the video was pretty flat -- just my voice and a little finger snapping and such in an acoustically dead room. And it felt a little dull.

Fortunately, I already had a recording of some music to use for the beginning and end of the video. When I plugged it in, I discovered that after the cross-fade from the lead-in music to my voice, I didn't notice the flatness of the sound anymore.

Depending on what you're doing in your videos, you may or may not want to have music in the background the whole time. But even if you're not going to have background music, a little musical introduction can go a lot farther toward making the video sound good than I'd have expected.
