Antone Roundy

Antone is the creator of White Hat Crew, and the owner of Gecko Tribe, LLC. He's an internet marketer, blogger, and programmer.

Unlike some people who know what they want to do by the time they’re out of diapers, my path to internet marketing has taken a few twists and turns.

I don’t recall what I might have wanted to do early on, but by the time I graduated from high school, my interests were mostly in writing and music. I entered college as an English major.

After a year of college, I took two years off, which I spent in Japan. By the time I returned to school, I was thinking more practically (which may or may not be a good thing!), and registered as a math major.

Math is one of my strengths, but it didn’t take long to realize that math majors spend 99% of their time studying mathematical abstractions rather than the interesting real-world math I’d studied up till that point (hey, it was interesting to me!) And they take very few classes that deal with history, philosophy, the arts, etc.

Next, I considered majoring in business. I soon decided that marketing was the only area of business that wouldn’t bore me to tears. But before I could switch majors, I switched schools and ended up as a Japanese major instead.

I considered double majoring in Japanese and marketing, but eventually decided it would be better to graduate in whatever major I could complete most quickly. Japanese beat out marketing by one semester.

After graduation, I worked for a few years in the Japanese department of Claris, a subsidiary of Apple Computer, first as a software test engineer, and then as a programmer.

The 3 1/2 years I spent there were good, but then in 1998, it was time for a change. Aside from a few short stints as a contractor, I’ve been working independently ever since.

Today, I’d describe myself professionally as a programmer, internet marketer, and blogger.

Personally, I’m a husband, married since 2002, and father of three.

I'll be 100% up front with you -- I'm linking to a product I haven't seen yet, and I have an ulterior motive. But the product is free, and when I do get a chance to look at it, I'll post comments about it here. So here's where you come in...

Here's a video clip of Russell Brunson teaching a product creation technique that helps you create the right product for the market. The video is from the 12 Month Internet Millionaire Workshop in Salt Lake City last February. I was a few chairs out of view of the camera on the right side toward the...

Last night, I was watching the bonus DVDs that Frank Kern gave to everyone who bought Traffic Secrets 2 (good stuff, BTW). It would have been difficult to miss his resemblance to Sawyer from LOST, both in look (especially when he's gone a while without shaving, as he had in the DVDs) and in swagger....

I got this funny idea this morning that if you want something, you should ask for it, and be very clear about what you want. That much seems obvious, but what I haven't seen it applied to very often (if ever) is creating business partnerships.

It may be that the only partnerships some people are...

I have 95 extra copies of a CD I created for a conference I attended recently, which I'm making available to the public. The contents include full versions of my scroller script (Tetra), exit hover ad script (ExPop) and viral mailing list mailer (List Mailer GT Pro), along with limited edition versions of my RSS...

"Viral Affiliate Resale Rights Products". It sounds vaguely buzz-word compliant, but what on earth does it mean? Let me explain.

Resale rights products sound like a great idea when you first hear about them -- somebody else creates a product, and possibly even a nice sales letter for it. You buy the right to resell...

Mark Worthen made a post on his blog titled "My Best Marketing Strategies". Since his and mine aren't quite the same, I thought I'd post my own list.

* Make a free version of your product and giving it away to drive people to your commercial version.

* Use an autoresponder like AWeber-- for my...

James Chartrand just posted a great piece at Copyblogger titled "Why Targeting Selective Perception Captures Immediate Attention. He talks about why people tend to notice certain things more than others, and how the things that catch a person's attention change depending on what's going on in their life.

Here are my takeaways:

1) Think about...

I'll be brief, because I want to get upstairs to see whether the Jazz can pull off a road win against the Lakers (I'm living in Nebraska now, but I'm a Utah boy at heart).

Yesterday morning, I woke up a hour early with a few ideas that wouldn't let me go back to sleep. So I got up and got to work, and now I've got a bunch of new testimonials, complete with photos, on my squeeze and sales pages. And I'm confident I'll also get more traffic.
