Sell Resale Rights

There are a variety of reasons why you might want to sell resale rights to your products:

  • It drives customers to buy others of your products - it could be an information product that recommends you other products, or a software product that can be enhanced by plugins or addons that you sell, etc.
  • You might benefit from having more people know about you because your product gets wider distribution.
  • You might require your resellers to send their buyers to your site to download the product, and you could require them to join your mailing list to get the download. Then you can promote additional products to them.
  • You could require customers to register with you to get free updates and/or tech support, and then promote additional products to them.
  • And of course, because you can sell resale rights for more than you can sell the product for without resale rights.

If you don't have a way to benefit from the wider distribution that your product gets through your resellers, you'll have to consider whether competing with your customers will cost you more in sales than the reseller licenses bring in.
