Article Marketing

Article marketing is the process or writing articles and submitting them to article directories, from which others can copy them to their websites, emails, and other places.

Those who copy the articles are required to publish your bio or resource box, from which you can link back to your website. You benefit from both click-through traffic and from the SEO value of the links.

Your reputation also benefits. Some of the trust that readers have for the person they got the article from is transferred to you because their publishing of your article is seen as an endorsement of you as an expert on the topic.

To find places to submit your articles, go to your favorite search engine and search for "article directory" or "article directory [keyword]", where [keyword] is a word or phrase relevant to your niche. You may find an article directory focused on your niche.

One of the challenges of article marketing is getting your articles found and picked up in the sea of low quality articles that get submitted to the directories.

When submitting articles, be sure to check the requirements of each article site. For example:

  • Restrictions on links in the article body
  • Restrictions on links in your bio
  • whether HTML formatting is accepted in the article and/or bio
