Antone Roundy

Antone is the creator of White Hat Crew, and the owner of Gecko Tribe, LLC. He's an internet marketer, blogger, and programmer.

Unlike some people who know what they want to do by the time they’re out of diapers, my path to internet marketing has taken a few twists and turns.

I don’t recall what I might have wanted to do early on, but by the time I graduated from high school, my interests were mostly in writing and music. I entered college as an English major.

After a year of college, I took two years off, which I spent in Japan. By the time I returned to school, I was thinking more practically (which may or may not be a good thing!), and registered as a math major.

Math is one of my strengths, but it didn’t take long to realize that math majors spend 99% of their time studying mathematical abstractions rather than the interesting real-world math I’d studied up till that point (hey, it was interesting to me!) And they take very few classes that deal with history, philosophy, the arts, etc.

Next, I considered majoring in business. I soon decided that marketing was the only area of business that wouldn’t bore me to tears. But before I could switch majors, I switched schools and ended up as a Japanese major instead.

I considered double majoring in Japanese and marketing, but eventually decided it would be better to graduate in whatever major I could complete most quickly. Japanese beat out marketing by one semester.

After graduation, I worked for a few years in the Japanese department of Claris, a subsidiary of Apple Computer, first as a software test engineer, and then as a programmer.

The 3 1/2 years I spent there were good, but then in 1998, it was time for a change. Aside from a few short stints as a contractor, I’ve been working independently ever since.

Today, I’d describe myself professionally as a programmer, internet marketer, and blogger.

Personally, I’m a husband, married since 2002, and father of three.

On Saturday, my son and I attended a storm chaser presentation that had been set up for the cub scouts by the local Boy Scout council. There were segments by several storm chasing teams, the local TV weatherman, and a son of one of the organizers.

One of the mothers from our pack seemed to...

I've never been a big fan of PLR content, so you won't have too much trouble guessing who the winner of this comparison is going to be. The reasons why I think Blog Riffing clobbers PLR content are what this post is about.

But first, a one-sentence introduction to each of our contenders. PLR content...

Back in March, Google started rolling out "+1", their competitor for the Facebook "Like" button. At the time, it was only available within Google search. Yesterday, they launched a +1 Button that you can put on your website (you can see...and click...it at the top and bottom of this article).

At the time of the...

Think of an internet marketer as a fisherman, trolling around the ocean, casting out his hooks and reeling in customers. Have you ever bought an internet marketing training product? If so, what does that make you -- a fisherman, or a fish?

I hate to break it to you, but on the day that you...

A few years ago, I had an email that I'd send out through ListDotCom twice a week (if I remembered), and, despite incredibly low response rates, it would make me $20 each time.

Not a fortune, by any stretch of the imagination, but considering that it took me all of about 30 seconds to send,...

A few years ago, I discovered that my great grandfather had lived till I was in my teens. I never met him because of a rift between him and my grandfather. It took me a while to forgive my grandfather (who had already passed away) for letting their personal differences keep me from getting to...

Last March, I posted an article about how to learn internet marketing. One of the keys I covered was that you need to implement what you learn rather than continually studying and never doing:

Once you've studied something that can help your business, implement it before you move on to the next thing. If you've...

Even if, like me, you think astrology is a bunch of...let's call it "hooey", I'd be willing to bet that you enjoy reading it to see if it fits. In fact, you probably enjoy it whether it does or not. (If it does, it reinforces your self-image. If it doesn't, it gives you a chance...

How important is it that your customers feel your price is fair?

It may seem like a no brainer, but consider this: have you ever paid more than you thought was fair for something? If you've eaten at an airport, bought popcorn at a movie theater, or gassed up a car lately, you've proven that...

Last week, the New York Times ran an article by Bill Keller about how technology saps our mental abilities when it replaces things we used to have to do for ourselves:

...the pocket calculator, for all its convenience, diminished my generation's math skills. Many of us have discovered that navigating by G.P.S. has undermined our...
